A few days ago we received an email from a loving father who wants to use Kickboxing to give back to the hard working men and women of the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (Oxford) and Children’s Chronic Arthritis Association (CCAA) who helped with the recovery of his son. Lee Ashman, who's son was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at the age of seven, took up Kickboxing with his son in order to help keep him active and to to improve the strength and mobility of the knee primarily affected by the arthritis.

Now, three years on, and with both of them having just earned their Black Belts, Mr. Ashman has challenged himself to do 100 rounds of Continuous sparring (at 2 minutes each - that's a total of over three hours) alongside raffles and other fund raising challenges on what promises to be a great (if somewhat tiring) day for all involved.

When my son was first diagnosed, he was treated at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and this is my way of giving back to them for the fantastic treatment and care that he has received and continues to receive whilst being a patient under their care. I would also like to make a donation to CCAA to help increase awareness of this horrible condition that not only adults, but also children, have to deal with."

The event will be taking place on the 28th November, with the BKC and other organisations all making donations for the raffle and helping to spread the world. I'm sure Mr. Ashman would be very greatful to anyone willing to join in with the sparring and even more so if you have anything you would like to offer up as a prize. Of course, if you can't make it on the day, you can always make a donation, large or small, via the event's Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/Lees100rounds.

If you would like to get in touch about the event, or just keep up to date with how Mr. Ashman's preparations are going, you can do so via the event's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Lees-100-rounds-1472688546380301
